Topps annoucned today that it has signed an exclusive multi-year autograph trading card deal with Japanese pitching phenom Yu Darvish. The deal also gives Topps rights to produce memorabilia, insert, and base cards.
Darvish will make his first autograph card appearance in the upcoming Topps Tribute Baseball. The card will be limited to /25 and will only be available via redemption. In addition, Darvish autographs will appear in the upcoming Topps Museum Collection Baseball and Gypsy Queen Baseball.
2012 Bowman Baseball will feature Darvish’s autographed Bowman Chrome rookie card. After that, collectors will find autographed cards from Darvish in Topps Archives, Topps Series 2, Tier One, Allen & Ginter, Bowman Platinum, and Topps Chrome during 2012.
Darvish, who signed with the Texas Rangers in January 2012, is one of the most heralded Japanese players ever. Only 25 years old, Darvish has two MVPs, three strikeout titles in the Japanese Pacific League and a win-loss record of 93-38.
